What is the difference on the K1500 1996 4WD pickuptruck and suburban-tahoe rear end units, six bolts wheels.

I am thinking of putting one in the 87 K5. (i know the 96 and 87 have different spring purch locations).

Does anybody know the ring gear size on the 96 and 87 (my 87 is a 10 bolt if pretty shure)

thank you stano

The ring gear is the same size, long as it's a 10 bolt and not the 14sf. I don't think they put the 14sf in Burbs. But I think the 88-up rears are narrower than what your 87 has, but not 100% on that. Hopefully someone that knows will chime in...

Ring gear 8.5.

If going through all the extra work, why not look for a 9.5 semi float 14b

And the 10b 88+ stuff had the bigger axle shafts, 30 spline I believe, compared to your 28

I know the diesel burbs had 4L80Es and 14b sf's not sure about gassers and I would imagine all 2500s had the 14b sf.

Oddly enough I saw a 2500 burb in the bone yard with a 14b ff with a small block...

I believe it. Mines a 8600 gvwr rig. Has hydro boost, 9.25 front end, but a sf. They did weird stuff they can't be explained.
