....that makes my brain back fire? :doah:

I put new injectors in the truck today, then decided I wanted to pull a spark plug and inspect it. Went down hill shortly after that. Pulled the wire right out of the boot- actually broke the wire. So off to get new wires. Figured I'd do it all at once, so I got plugs, cap and rotor too. Should be a pretty simple, quick and easy job right? Ugh. I think those plug wires had been on the truck for about 40,000 years. I had to cut EVERY damn boot off the spark plug. I was trying to keep track of which wire went where by doing one at a time, but had to spend so much time trying to get the damn boots off the plugs that I lost track. :doah:

First attempt it ran, but back fired and shook like a washing machine. I think I had cylinder 1 & 3 backwards. So I pulled all the wires and started over again. I got the firing order right that time...but ran it backwards on the distributor- clockwise rather than counter clockwise. It did NOT run that time. :eek1::haha:

So I cussed a lot, threw some tools around, chain smoked about 6 cigarettes, cussed some more, played with the dog, tried to warm up my numb fingers, chain smoked some more and then tried again. I finally got it right the 3rd time. WTF?! Why do I ALWAYS fuuck it up somehow whenever I mess with distributor stuff? In all the years I've been doing this kinda shiit, I don't think I've ever got it right the first time.:doah:

On the plus side, new injectors and a tune-up that was waaaaaaay past due (I was shocked that it actually ran with the condition some of the spark plugs were in) seriously woke the 454 up. It's almost like driving a new truck...lol! Funny how much good a little routine maintenance does. :haha::haha:

nice
in the end, nothing broke that shouldn't have already been replaced, good running truck, half a pack smoked, and the dog is happy

Joe, just so you know for next time the firing order is CLOCKWISE on the cap NOT counter clockwise. Not sure if I misinterpreted what you meant.

Did you use die-electric grease on the plug boots when you installed the wires? This is why you had such a hard time removing the old wires because whoever put the old wires on did not use it.
