I just bought an 89 K5 Blazer and want to lift it. I want a 4 inch but don't know what one is best. I like the Rancho with the rear block spring combo. Any input would be great.

I'm happy with my Superlift springs but others say they are stiff and don't flex very well. I haven't found that to be the case at all. At any rate, you should buy whatever brand spring the you research and feel comforable with but i would buy a 4" shackle flip for the rear. Yes it's a little harder to install than a set of springs or god forbid a set of blocks but you keep the same ride quality. You might even think about doing a 1" zero rate in the back along with the shackle flip since the shackle flip will more the axle forward anywhere between 1"-1.5".

whats your plans for the blazer and whats your budget for springs? reason im asking is because if you have the money and dont want to do the shackle flip like 4X4HIGH suggested than go with springs all the way around. better ride and your springs wont wear out as fast. you will learn as i have from this site that its better to do it right the first time if you can.

I used to have 4" Tuff country EZ ride springs and a 4" ORD shackle flip in my 89 blazer and I really liked it.

there r many opinions about springs, but i think 99% of the guys here can agree pro comp and rough country r reeeally stiff and dont flex very well. so as long as u stay away from them...i think ull be happy with whatever u get. but i vote tuff country ez-rides in the front, and a shackle flip from www.diy4x.com in the back.

ORD has a new 4" lift kit on their site, it looks to be an excelent kit, and i'm sure it performs well.

the ORD complete kit is awesome! I would recommend it to anyone who is starting out and has a decent budget to work with. If you are on the cheap though the 4 inch kit from Genuine suspension comes with all procomp pieces including shocks and u-bolts. You will still need to buy brake lines and a steering correction but I think it still comes out to less than $500.

is this true?

You might even think about doing a 1" zero rate in the back along with the shackle flip since the shackle flip will more the axle forward anywhere between 1"-1.5".

is this true? does a diy4x shackle flip move axle forward? i was under the impresion that they just flipped the shackle over to compression type and the axle stayed where it was.

if i switch sides w/diy brackets and then it will fit a 56'' spring, but axle stays in the same location if 56'' spring is turned same as 52'' (isn't that the shorter spring pack measurement?) if 56'' spring is turned around, then wheelbase will change(b/c diff measurement from center pin to spring ends w/56''), otherwise, just a good ole flip doesn't move axle does it?

I have a front set of 4" tuff country EZ ride springs, ORD 4.5" shackles with greasable bolts and ORD brake lines up for sale if your interested. Just swapped to 52's up front. These have only been installed for less than a year, with only 4 trail rides. I also have front shocks to go with them. If your interested send me a PM.
