Getting ready to lift the 1991 V3500 CC. I am going to go 8" with a full spring up front and a shackle flip and 4" spring in the rear. What is the best all around spring for weight and ride quality. I also want to retain the 3500 payload. The truck is a 454/465/205. It will have a winch and bumper up front and soon a 6bt cummins also.

what tire do you plan on running? Just wondering b/c with 8" of lift you are probably shooting for something in the 38" flavor yet you want to retain the factory payload...are you planning on towing with it or am I missing something?

There is a BDS dealer some what close to me. I guess I should call them and see if I can just get springs instead of the kits they list on there web sight.

I will run a Nitto mud grappler 35/14.5/16 as a daily tire. This will give me good clearance without cutting it all up. Its pulling a gooseneck and a travel trailer.

I got skyjacker up and back but with a 4inch ORD shackle. I havent had any Issues with payload yet, however I am unsure of what my springs weight capabilities are. Oh ya a pic of mine 8 inch lift with 38's

I have pulled will many lifted trucks. As long as they are set up right they work just as good. My stock truck will not go where I need it too.

if you want to pull with it you should leave it stock.
x2 its all in prefrece but for me its nerve racking pulling with a lifted truck...at least get crossover so you have a better turning radius...

The only problem with crossover is the lack of a sway bar. And towing with an 8 inch lift and no sway bar I have heard is a bit hairy?

I haven't had a set of skyjacker springs yet. How do they ride compared to the other brands. I have had a set of rancho springs that road worse than stock. As long as the ride isn't worse I am fine with it. I am not trying to make a 1 ton ride like a Cadillac.

without that sway bar you certainly dont get to just sit back and enjoy the drive! Especially if its windy that day!

For a 1 ton they ride pretty good. On my previous crewcab the front spring were 6 inch superlift with blocks in the back, and that was much stiffer but not horrible. I find the skyjacker spring are a lil more firm the stock. To be honest I was surprised of how good the ride was. But then again It sure isnt a caddy :p:

My 90 burb had superlift springs. It rode good except for a hard bump. My 73 k5 had 6" rancho and rode like ****.

i am doing 8" bds in frt and 4" bds rear with 4" flip to make 8". my bds dealer got just springs for me no problems. all of this will be going in crew cab with 3" body and 40" ground hawgs.

i had bds and they were pretty good. this time around i went with TC because i could get them through work for a better price than the BDS springs i wanted
