So what is everyone using for ball joints? I've heard moog was the best but I've also heard quality has gone way down.
Thanks, cody.

I've always heard Moog and TRW. I'm just starting the same job right now, so I'll be following this too.

What is the best ball joint?

The one that doesn't fail and leave you stranded somewhere. I have always prefered Moog over any other though.

I was recommended Spicer/Raybestos Pro grade (PN's 5001070 and 5051156 IIRC) but noticed on one of them there was a large metal chip left from machining. Wasn't going to hurt anything, it was just laying there, but got me to wondering what the insides might look like if they'd let parts out with machining leftovers on them. So far so good though.

7111023 is the part number for the Raybestos ball joint bushing "socket".

i just put new ball joints in my suburban a couple weeks ago. i was able to buy MOOG from rock auto for just over half what the parts stores wanted for their MOOG ball joints.

I rebuilt my dana 44 in the mid 90's and used napa premium ball joint's not the low end house brand. they are a dana spicer part called at that time perfect circle. Have not had a problem at all. who know's if they still stock them.

I can't believe noone said the best balljoint is a kingpin! :haha:

I was expecting to hear more kingpin comments:rolleyes:, it sounds like moog might still be good, I had heard thru the internet talk that the quality of moog had gone down.

What it Does: The "Big Ern" Ball Joint Replacement Kingpin is a greaseless chromoly alternate for weak ball joints in solid axle, off-road vehicles.

How it Works: It Installs with the same tools and method as traditional ball joints.

Why it's the Best: Graphite impregnated Silicone Bronze bushings equals the end of ball joint failure.
