:waytogo:I've been looking for a "tech savvy" site for my 2001 Toyota LandCruiser (UZJ100 Series)..... and hopefully with the friendly, family-feel of CK5.

I've found a few expedition-type sites, and I was surprised that IH8MUD seems to have a pretty well-done section for each of the LandCruiser series vehicles... :waytogo:

At this point, I'm just looking for some simple DIY-type maintenance FAQs (which seem to be abundant on IH8MUD), and eventually I might tackle the more oddball "small stuff" that is wrong with the truck.... I swear this vehicle is an absolute tank and will probably last at least another 100,000 miles based on how well it's doing so far!!!!

Pending Services I want to do:

Timing Belt / Waterpump
Axle Fluid flush (F&R)
Transfercase flush
Coolant flush
Brake Fluid flush
Cabin filter / Engine filter
Replace 4 shocks

Oddball Stuff to fix as time allows:

Replace bulb in cluster for "D" indicator
Figure out why rear wiper wont park, except when ignition is off
Replace DS door speaker
Replace stupid broken cupholder "wings"

There is a site called CruiserParts.net that seems to sell a lot of the common service items, but there may be a better site out there? Either more complete, or cheaper? :dunno:

IH8MUD is the CK5 of landcruisers and even toy mini trucks. Theyre tight knit no bull**** no flaming kind of guys. I used to lurk there a lot because theres some cool, "not ridiculous" type builds on there VS pirate where only balls to the wall people post builds anymore.

That's the vibe I got from IH8MUD as well.... For some reason I thought it was just going to be a bunch of "Bro-Truck", flat bill hat wearing guys on that site, but the LandCrusier area seems really organized and a lot of the stuff I wanted to find was clearly indexed in the FAQ.

I lurk on expo a lot. You have to be able to filter the info over there. The atmosphere's decent but sometimes the $$$ are greater than the brains.

use only Toyota or aisin timg belt/water pump on this TRUST me. Land Cruisers have been known to go 300K or more if taken care of seen 3 with over 290K that where in good shape! Crank bolt is also super tight on these from factory! Don't cheap on such a nice ride there. Any help need let me know I work at the Toyota dealer.

Thanks for the tip! :waytogo:

The limited amount of reading I did suggested that the water pump should be replaced with the timing belt just because of how hard it is to access normally.... Kind of like a Toyota version of "Might As Well"? :haha:

I think I saw something about also replacing cam seals, or a crank seal at that same time for similar reasons.....

Any idea why the rear wiper doesn't park anymore? If I turn it on it wipes forever even when the stalk is shut off.... However, if I shut off the ignition and then turn it back on, the wiper will go to the park position and then stay there like it should. Is that more likely to be a stalk issue, or a motor issue? Any ideas? :dunno: It's a minor annoyance, but if it's not stupid-expensive to fix I'd probably do it. I don't like driving a car with broken stuff like that....

We've owned this truck since 2006. (It's a 2001). It just turned 130,000 miles and still runs like a champ! It's super comfy too.... I just worry about that timing belt. I know it was due at 90,000 miles and I'm sure it's an interference engine design.

yes do water pump with the timing belt seals are up to you but might as well again. It's Not easy and is time consuming job if never done one on a Toyota V8 before. I can look into more info on you L/C tomorrow for you but not a common problem.

Park is normally related to the motor. My chevy used to do all sorts of crazy **** from not wanting to turn off, to turning on randomly, to parking retarded. All that is set in the motor with contacts and such normally.

I'll probably pay the dealer for that service, and save the simpler fluid change and small repair-type stuff for myself.

My time is limited, and I'm sure you guys would rather have me posting Blazer updates than hyper-panicked Toyota questions from a partially disassembled engine bay! :haha:
