On a modern car it would be an “upper tie bar”.
I think I may have to weld mine up. I can’t find one place that reproduces this panel.
Yeah, seems like I read recently that no one make that piece.
What years will work? Not interested in a good used one?
Whatever years that didn’t have a hood release in the cab.
I buy used parts as much as I can but 73-87/91 trucks barely exist in junk yards around here. Have one for sale? Lol
The core support will only be between 73-80, 81+ is different. Within the 73-80 range I don't know if they will all actually interchange or not. Sometimes you have minor differences that dictate new part numbers but in reality the parts interchange. I have an old body parts book but it only goes back to 78 so I don't have any info on previous years. On the 78-80 core support, it was serviced as an assembly by GM, no pieces.
With respect to the hood latch style, inside vs outside release is option related not by year. This means 2 trucks the same year model could have each type.

For whatever reason I had convinced myself that 73-7X didn’t have a cable release, only the support release. Learn something new every time I post here.

That's what I mean. Around here I can find one pretty easy that's in great shape. If you aren't in a hurry and can wait, I'm sure one can be found and shipped. Or someone closer to you might have one. Post up in the wanted section and see what happens.
This is a turtle build at the moment. Plenty of time to source parts. I’ll hit up the classifieds later.

I can confirm that piece is different between the cable release and non-cable release versions for 1977. I had one of each at the same time. I kept everything from the one with the hood release option when I parted it out.

Just for the people that might end up in the same situation, where did you find the part? New or used?
