I just rebuilt my 400SBC and came across a (vacuum diaphragm), for lack of a better description, that threads into the top of the block next to the distributor, behind the IM. There is a single wire, flat connector on the top. Is this part of the Cruise Control system???

-Thanks

That sounds like your oil pressure sending unit by it's location.

I'm trying to upload a picture...but I don't think it has anything to do with oil. the threads that the sensor in question goes to just thread into the block, I can see all the way down into the bottom end with a flashlight. Then again maybe it is the Oil Press sensor.....it's a roughly 2" tall, and 2" in diameter cylinder with a single flat blade connector on top. I've been looking @ parts sites, google images and any other diagram of an SBC I can find. Kind of sad, i can rebuild an engine/ and tranny, but have no idea what this 1 sensor is

And i gotta wait 30 sec between posts. Sorry guys, I'm bout to waist some thread space gettting my count up.
