What is this wire

So I’ll explain this the best I can since I don’t currently have a photo. I have a 1989 k5 blazer and upon removing the rear bumper, I noticed a cut ground wire going into the frame crossmember directly under my tail panel. It’s a little left from the center of the truck and I’m stumped. I have no idea chat it goes to. Any advice is appreciated. There’s a 1/2 inch bolt going into it

Possibly the ground wire to the wire harness for the tailgate window if it's electric. I have one on mine.

Sounds like you may be correct. That would make sense because someone has converted it to manual crank. Appreciate the help!

Is your fuel gauge working? It could also be the sending unit ground.

I’ve got the ground for the sending unit already in place from installing a new one but I’ll just see how things go for now without that ground being installed . Appreciate all the help!

Is it a white wire? Could be a ground for a trailer plug connector.
