What is this ??????

Drain valves for siphoning water out of your fuel tanks. I assume this truck has 2 fuel tanks (based on both the visible plumbing and the presence of a right-hand tank), in which case you should have one on each side. A line should run from the valve to the fuel tank, where it enters with the sending and return lines. At the top of the second picture you can see all 3 lines converging where the driver-side fuel tank should be.

Whether you'll ever use them is a whole different question. :dunno:

Yeah, that is diesel only as far as I know...and no need to siphon from what i know. The diesel floats on the water. The weight of the diesel is enough to push the water out that petcock.

Yes,but the siphon feed tube in the sending unit goes all the way to the bottom of the fuel tank..
I know this because I just took the sending unit out of the junk leaking tank today on my 82 K2500 ,6.2...so as long as whatever you drain the water into is lower than the tank is,it'll self siphon,or at most need a slight suction to get it started..turkey baster works!..

I always wondered what those were, my k20 was a diesel originally. Wondered what them drains were for on the frame :thumb:

A lot of older diesels have them. The military HMMWVs had one under the hood, useful for taking fuel samples and helping to bleed air out of the fuel line.

I've had a lot of diesel trucks and never once noticed that drain LOL

Like I said, whether you'll ever use them is a whole different question. I'd guess most folks never use their water drains. I prolly wouldn't have noticed them if I hadn't redone my fuel plumbing a few years ago...
