What is this?

1970 Chevy k5. There are two slot channels along each bed wall, right past the door. What goes in there? Assume it’s to insert the interior panels for the back row? The top edges are pretty sharp. Would like to figure out what goes in there so I can stop ripping my jeans every time I get in the back! Thanks all.

Why would it be on inside? There is nothing to seal, as best I can tell.

On my 72 it's the lip the weather strip/seal slides onto for the door (my seal is torn, loose at the top) =
