What is to much steering box slop?

Kingpins and all rod ends are new, would slop in the steering box cause death wobble at 35 MPH?

It could.......but wouldn't be the first place I would look. Do you have a D60 front? What tire size? Reason I ask is that it's pretty common for people to report death wobble on a D60 with bigger tires even if you have new kingpin components. Had the issue on mine when I first swapped in a D60 even with new bushings and springs. Finally shimmed the upper kingpin springs with some fender washers and it took care of it.

Yes dana 60 steer, 37x12.5 BFG ATs on H2s. It was fine for 7000 miles, probably started about same time I took the hydro assist off. Then I replaced king pins but didn't help.

Hydro assist was hiding the problem, acts like a giant steering stabilizer. I have fixed death wobble with a new steering stabilizer but again, just hiding the real problem. Also had brutal death wobble on a rig with bias 37" tires, just couldn't balance them out. Probably not your issue but worth checking wheel weights.

Believe I used 1/2" fender washers under the upper cap. With the original springs and bushings I think I put 2 washers in, then when I replaced the springs and bushings with new went down to just 1 washer.

I haven't heard this talked about recently but it was a pretty common topic years ago. One way to test it is jack up the front axle so the tires are off the ground, and then have somebody stand on the lip of the wheel and put weight on it while somebody is looking at the knuckle. If the spring is weak or not enough preload you can see the knuckle move up and down.

Yeah I put one fat 3/4" on each side, right side was little tight so I changed it to thinner fender washer. Will see how it works over the potholes tomorrow.

It was improvement but still little wobble so I put new Yukon springs in and left a thin washer. The new spring is little taller, don't remember if the rebuild kit I put in last had new springs.
