What kind of bulb do the LMC Euro headlights use? H4?

I am looking at getting some of the LMC euro headlights for my 90 Blazer. I've used similar light assemblies by Hella in the past, and they use H4's, but since my 90 uses those smaller lights I can't use anything other than the LMC (right?)

Anyway, I would like to know if the LMC ones use H4 bulbs or at least something that is mainstream enough that I can upgrade them to something brighter.

I called LMC but they didn't know... :doah:
 
I wish I had an answer for you but I am in a similar situation. I thought about an HID upgrade for my trucks. My 79 has two large round lamps and my 88 has four rectangular lamps (two for low and two for high). I use the sylvania silver star halogen lamps for my 79 and they do pretty well, but the light output doesn't compare to the new vehicles.
 
I had a thread about the LMC lights, HD harness, Eurolights, etc this summer and last posted in it in October. If you search you could find it here. I want to say there were a few members who had 89-91's and upgraded lights.

For the record I bought from www.EuroLights.com and dunno if I'd do it again. At least with LMC the lights would have fit the harness. I'm betting they use a standard bulb.
 
THANK YOU for the info. That thread is great. Looks like I will get the LMC, although I like the lense pattern better on the lights you got ... and not being plug-and-play? That's weird.
 
Mine use H7 bulbs. The quality has me a bit..."meh". The customer service was good if uncommunicative. They rarely answered my emails promptly and I never got a shipping update or anything after I paid until I asked but when one of the bulbs arrived defective they did send a free replacement out promptly.

They do seem to work though. Definitely brighter than a standard 55w H7. Not so hot on the yellow color either. Dunno.

I used the LMC harness and the connectors were different for sure. Seemed to be an oval clip on setup with two prongs, one on each end.
Sorta like this (l l) You'll have to imagine the bottom edges of the oval. Dunno which bulb family that might be.
 
Oh, wait, I get it. Your lights are single filament each. One filament in the low and one in the high. I thought they would be dual filament in the low (so lo/hi) and then single filament in the high.

Ugh. I wonder if I can swap in an H4 or some other dual filament bulb...
 
Yeah, I've got the two side by side lights on each side. Does your '90 have the one large light on each side?
 
I have the two 150mm rectangle lights, side by side. Those are the smaller ones, unlike the 88 and older which use the larger, normal size 4"x6" rectangle lights.

I thought about an HID upgrade for my trucks. My 79 has two large round lamps and my 88 has four rectangular lamps (two for low and two for high). I want to stick with a white, not blue, light. I do not want to end up with lights that blind others. I hate those people that have lights adjusted incorrectly.

Has anyone installed HID lights in their truck?

What lenses and HID kit did you use?

How was the light output?

Do they blind other drivers?

CGT80 you are in luck, I have the LMC euro's with an Evilbay HID kit installed. The bulb is H4. Here is the best pic I could get short notice to show how they look. Look the same except for the reflector cone in the middle. If you needan up close pic let me know and I will get that up latter.

The lighting on the blazer is really bad. I have seen the housings they sell on ebay that will accept H4 bulbs. My thoughts were to buy a new housing and run HIDs but I am unsure on if the HIDs will actually improve anything since HIDs require a specific lens to work correctly. That is why you see some cars with HIDs blinding people. Its because someone stuck HIDs in a car that was never intended to have HIDs.

biohzdk5, I considered the same route as you, but as nsxxtreme said, some people use lenses not designed for HID and end up blinding people. How do you like the euro lenses with HID? Do you get flashed by others?
 
Light bulb is a light bulb is a light bulb. All a projector beam lens in a HID system does is concentrate the light to a more focused point. Kinda like the difference between fog and spot lights. I like them, they do have more light output than normal halogens. Don't get flashed to often. I have them aimed accordingly to prevent this. Plus I wen t with a 5K temp on the bulb slight blue tint. I have an 07 tundra with the same HID kit with 4K temp bulbs and they are white. Another reason I don't get flashed a lot is these lights are pretty common now, plus new cars blind me in both trucks with regular halogens. Don't look into the light is my theory! Heck we have some that drive with high beams on cause they are too cheap to replace the bulb on a 5 year old car. Now I will tell you that you will loose your high beams when you do this. My solution was to wire a relay system for the lights and run the KC's as my high's. Have it wire so they come on with the floor switch.
 
Oh Jessie something to keep in mind on this is the real reason Euro lens were created. Makes replacing blown bulbs easy, this common knowledge. The bulb numbers and prongs vary based on type of bulb and light output. Your lows would be say an H7 bulb but your highs might be an H8 or 9154 or so on. They all have the same prongs but the H7 is 35w for low beam and the H8 is 55w for the high beams. These number are not right but you get my example. Believe me spent 45 min at the parts house comparing bulbs. My tundra has three different bulbs.
