what kind of mods are needed for axle swap?

are there any mods that need to be done to swap in 3/4 or 1 ton axls?

1/2 to 3/4 rear (14 bolt) is a direct bolt in, minus the u-joint difference, poss driveshaft length change, E-brake cable mod...but other than that is cake.

The front if converting to 8 lug....but still 1/2 ton is easy and fairly cheap. Goning to a DANA60 front is fairly easy too, but not easy on the wallet!!! /forums/images/icons/frown.gif /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

no u don't. ya just need that trick u-joint to fit the 14ff to the half ton driveshaft. there is a write up on axle swaps and it gives some tips on the 14ff. axle swap well i hope this helps.

if you need a napa pn lemmie know for u joint, i got it somewhere.. if you go to 1 ton, you will need to move each perch in 1 inch, stock 1/2 ton perches are 42 1/2 apart center to center of perch. 1 ton is 40 1/2. thats how youll know the difference. on 3/4 most brake cable are same though and bolt in.

i just needed to move the rear perches. the fronts bolted up
th new rear u-joint for me was a 348
the front shaft was the same. if you need a new joint look for Yunit...he was trying to get rid of some cheap
