I have come to realize that it isn't the power steering pump making the noise. It is coming from the passenger side of the truck. So I am thinking it is either the air compressor or idler pulley. The best way to describe the sound, is very loud whining resembles a ps pump when one is bad when turning, but this noise is on 24x7.

Yep, could be an idler, but you need to pull the belts off and spin whatever you can to see if you can figure out which part is making the noise. Idlers don't really last very long, and the plastic ones were and make funny noises sometimes even when the bearing is good.

thanks!

If it isn't to cold 2nite I will take the belt off and see if I can diagnose the issue.

not the idler

It was for sure the ac compressor. That pulley whined just spinning it by hand. Got it yanked off, that was a job! Coworker said he had one for $50.00 I may get that. Is it possible to just replace the bearings in these or do I have to do the whole unit.

The pulley bearing is actually outside the compressor. The bearing and clutch are both replaceable if you can find a place that has the parts.

As said above the bearing is outside the compressor. you dont have to take the compressor off the engine to change the bearing. You will need the special AC pully puller to get the pully off to get to the bearing. Most parts stores carry them. The bearing should not be too hard to find. You may have to buy it as a whole kit which includes bearing, clutch plate and coil.
