what kind of tubing for tranny lines?

looks like my truck uses 3/8 tranny lines....i think the blazer, which i originally had it on, used 5/16, so my barb fitting that connects the two rubber hoses together is 5/16...hence the leaks. Thinking of using compression fittings, cant seem to find the right flare fittings. Anyone know if you can use them on steel, or are they just for softer metals? thanks

just replaced tranny in a 97 and it looks to have 3/8" stuff, older are all 5/16" however

all you need is nothing special brake tubing, auto zone etc, easy as hell, also get new flaring kit too, rent or buy, easy to use, everyone should own one, its not hard, cut and flare lengths you need, swap fittings you need and re flare
cakewalk

people make it sound like and think that its rocket science to make trans and brake lines when in fact is simple as hell only take a few minute to run and cut and flare these lines and they are super cheap as hell, ppl are scared and are wusses afraid of the unknown,
make sure you get the double flaring kit, like 15 bucks for it all- get the american/SAE one, not the japanese/english one(metric)

good luck

the cutting and flaring is the easy part, i just keep running into problems with the fittings...i bought the cooler for my 90 K5, and have since installed it on my 01 silverado, so i need a 5/16MIPx3/8 barb fitting, or a 5/16barb to 3/8 barb, neither one of which i can find...did find a 5/16MIP to 3/8 comp though, which is why i was thinking about that...
