Plugs are in you engine??? I have been using Champion truck plugs for some time now and been working good for me,Thinking of trying something different. With all the new stuff and the hype on the e3's ect.

Getting ready to install a q-jet form summit and thinking on doing a full tune up before I fire it up.Getting ready for work and will tune in later tonight.

ac delco r44ts. I am willing to bet that no horse power is gained with any spark plug change unless there is a problem.

I'll second the Bosch Platinum 4's. I've got the same set on my 90 TBI for the last five years and havent had any issues. And I've run some bad gas and mixed fuel. The mixed fual thing was because I ran out at the house and had four gallons of mixed for the go-karts. Smoked a little, but ran fine. I think the +4's run a little hotter than regular plugs as the temp in the truck was always about 200* but runs consistantly at 220* after the swap. I might be full of it, too.

:haha:

I feel like that should be a disclaimer on every post i make.

I run the delco's.

My parents bought our 90 burb new, and ran into some hard times, and besides oil changes, it got neglected. Sold it 10 years later with 185k on the clock, and it ran fine. The new owner took it in for a tuneup, and the dealer said the plugs were original. If that isn't a testament to Delco's, i don't know what is.

I run truck and marine plugs ( autolite 145 or equivalent ac delco ) , they are a heat range down from stock 350's . Remember trucks and boats have to idle a lot :)

I usually run what was stock in the engine...I don't think you can out-engineer/out perform the stock plugs for the price this day and age. Advertising sells the other ones....I agree that you wont pick up anything (very minute maybe) on the other 5-10$ plugs out there.
And how did he know those were the original factory plugs in there?
Like they don't make those for resale? I'm in amazement at his thoughts.

You want a hotter plug for idling and colder for detonation resistance. Boats have there guts pulled out they need cold plugs.

I'm running Bosch Platinums in mine. they've been through 3 sets of screwed up head gaskets and a rich running condition. they still fire like nobody's business.

They MAY have been replaced, but my parent's didn't remember ever having it tuned up (skipped for money savings at the time). Could they have been replaced? sure. The idea holds true though, they were worn as crap, and the motor still ran decent.....sounds like some sort of testament to teh quality of the OE plugs.

I run whatever is cheep in a single platinum plug. There will be very little difference in power gain with any plug.

The platinum tip is proven to make the plug last longer in a given application. They last longer due to their ability to resist tip erosion and is the reason newer cars started achieving 100,000 mile service intervals. Double platinum are useless for our distributor based engines and are only good for a wasted spark ignition system and as such, a waist of $.

Cheers,

Rufus
