So i ordered new glow plugs for my '85 m1009 because i live in the UP of michigan and well, my truck hasn't started in over a week because it's damn cold. Ordered the recommended AC Delco 12Gs. To my dismay, the ones the store gave me are nothing like the plugs that are already in my truck. The one on the left is the new 12G, the one on the right is one of my old plugs. The problem is that i cant wire up the new ones; the connector is too big. So i guess my question is do i have funny plugs or did the store give me funny plugs?

A 6.2 should have AC60G glow plugs but they might need to be used with a manual push button switch rather than the stock controller, they might take longer to heat up than the factory glow plugs do,I think they came with AC 9G glow plugs originally from the factory.....but those can swell up and be hard to remove and they went to the 60G's instead...you might be able to get away with using the 60G's and just cycle the key on and off more than once to get them hot enough with the stock controller..

These are what mine look like. I swear I ordered 12s.

I just bought a set of Kennedy Quick heats and they are perfect stock replacements and they work great. After the glow cycle my truck starts just like a gas engine. You may need more time than me as I'm sure we're not as cold here in New England as you. For the price you couldn't go wrong. The glow plugs are on sale right now + Kennedy Diesel is close to you. Return the ones you got and get the Kennedy's.

Is your truck still 24v?

If so then you need the military spec GP's. Higher voltage rating than civilian models. I will try and figure out the brand I used in the M1008 I used to own. Solved my slow, rough starting issues instantly.

Yeah it's still 24V. Got it figured out though, thanks anyway!
