what kinda batteries are yall running?

[ QUOTE ]
I personally think that's crap, and they need to understand that an off road vehicle is going to have sometimes very serious deep discharges on the batteries and that we need something that can not only take the deep discharging, but take a re-charge and still have enough CCA to start our trucks.

That would be called a deep cycle. If you want to use it as a starting bat as well use one of the hybred styles like one of the Jonson Control (Optima & Interstate) Yellow Tops or the Exide/Pro-Comps. They are being made, you just need to come of the cash. Any car I care about now gets an Optima.

I've never had a problem with Interstate, and that's my pick, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of the upper level batteries from the major manufacturers. The only batteries I've had trouble with are the cheap NAPA models.

I'd be willing to bet money that Napa's batteries are made by Johnson Controls too (just like Interstate) but they might be Exide.

i have a diehard also.good battery ,mostly it's cause i get $300.00 a year in sears gift cards if i don't get hurt.the original batt was a delco.it was in the truck for 9 years. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gifto /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif

red top. ive only had it for 6 months or so. but they were on sale at advanced for $100, and my delco took a sh!t, so i got that. im very glad i did. saved my ass out in the woods once or twice. that battery has at least twice the cranking time the delco did. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Deep cycle is not designed for heavy loads, only deep discharges.

I have some cheep but big POS in my blazer. In my s10 I have a excide orbital. I am going to buy a new one for my s10 sometime soon as well as one to put in the K5 and I will keep the old one in the s10 as the 2nd battery in the K5. The one in the s10 has over 5 years on it and many deep cylcings.

I'm not in cold climate but the best battery I have ever run and still run is an interstate. I use an 1100 CCA for the primary battery and a 1000 CCA deep cycle marine battery for my auxillary battery. They have NEVER let me down ever. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I've got a "Interstate" battery. Not sure what CCA, and it's too dark to go look right now. Bought it 2 days after I bought the 76 K5. Never had a problem with it yet. I've let The K5 sit 3 or 4 months with out starting it and when I finally do turn the key, it's still got pleanty of power to start. (Bad carb, you have too crank it till it pumps some gas up to the carb.)

1000 CCA Advanced Auto Titanium Battery $79
1000 CCA Eveready - Walmart Battery $59

Both do pretty well, the walmart battery hasn't been charged in 8-9months and it still turns the truck over real strong (no fuel tank yet). /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Both are dual top/side post... I use both top and side posts on both batteries for amps and the snow plow and lights

Maybe I'll give them a shot when my current 1000 cca batteries are done. One came from farm and fleet, the other I can't recall exactly.

I almost always run Diehard Golds. THey have never left me stranded.. I have a Diehard Silver in my car. Its a Ferd Probe GT and known for being hard on Batts. The Probe board says they usually kill a good batt in 2 years. I have had mine almost 6 years now and its still going strong!
