Looking at purchasing a s-10 pickup or blazer.

4.3 with auto.

can I beat the 14mpg I am getting now in my burban?

'91 S-Jimmy, 4.3 TBI, 700R4, 4WD

17-18 MPG around town.
18-20 MPG highway (running about 82 MPH with the cruise set). /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

I get about 16mpg with mostly city driving. I can get up to 20 on the hwy.

That is about the worst you could get...about half of all my shifts are at 6000rpm /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

BTW: 87 ext cab p/u with a mighty 2.8 /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif

'01 4dr 2WD Blazer(4.3, auto) gets about 18-20 MPG's on the highway, a little less than that in the city...

My '89 got 14-16 around town...........just tuned it yesterday (major - cap, rotor, ign module, coil, wires, fuel filter, etc.) and it runs better...........

I've gotten 20 on the freeway going to Seattle. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I used to get 26mpg highway with a 2wd shortbed '88 S10 with a 2.8L and 5 spd. Usually closer to 22-23 mpg around town.

1992 - 20mpg with 253,000 on the clock. Original motor and trans. CPI injection

1989 - 18.5ish with 305,000 on the clock. Orig motor TBI injection

Both TH700R4 and 3.42 gears with stock 235/75/15 tires

1999 4 dr blazer, 4x4, auto, 3.42s and stock 235/70R-15s.
Over the last 2700 miles, combined driving, 19.4 mpg. Hand calculated, no trip meter. Straight highway will get 21-23 consistently. 74K on the clock.

Co-worker has a '01 ext cab 4x4 with same powertrain and over 35K only seen best of 18.5mpg, averages 15-17 now with an aluminum topper. Blazers seem to get better mpg than trucks, possible aero-dynamics?

i am getting about 12 mpg.
but thats with a 3.4 crate moter , 32" mud rovers,
a locker , and headers . /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Mine averages about 19-21 with both in town and highway. It usually gets about 16-17 in town. I've never driven it on the highway enough to get a good estimated hwy mileage.

That's with a 03 4wd, 5spd, x-cab pickup.

seen a couple blazers here fully equipted. but my eyes have been looking at the subaru legacy sedans too 25-30 mpg and awd. I can't keep anything simple,LOL

Jeremy - update after the following total tune up parts change (cap, rotor, plug wires, coil, ign module, fuel filter, air filter, O2 sensor) - mix of 85% around town, 15% freeway, driving it like I usually drive everything (not gas mileage concious) - 22 mpg.............I am stoked. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

seen a 99 blazer here with ALL the options (sunroof,leather..) for $9K my buddy had a 94 s-10 extra cab he was gonna sell me since he got a new ZR2. he told me $4200 but told my friend $3500. so I told him no.

my friend in Eugene is trying to talk me into getting one of the new Dodge Magnums (looks like a 300 series wagon thing) 5.7 hemi gets 17 city 25 hiway. 340 horse.

2000 Astro, 19.5-20.5 overall. 97 Blazer 2wd, 22 overall. 95 Blazer 2wd, 21 overall. All are 4.3/auto & that's running the a/c. Much better than the 13 i was getting with my k-5/305.

My buddy CowKiller wanted me to post up about his S10 Blazer.

Hes got a fairly rare combo I guess. It is a 98 s10 blazer 4.3 vortect, 5 speed man, getting 15-17 town, 23-25 highway with 85000 on the motor. Hes never been one to drive like a Grandma mind you.

my 86 2.8 auto gets 20-25 with the way I drive. could get 30 if i didn't treat the throttle pedal like a light switch...on/off but with the 2.8 i kinda have too.

but my mileage is gonna drop way down...room mate wants me to drop my 383 in to it.

Mileage with bigger tires

I get 18-22 in my '92 gmc Jimmy 4dr 4x4 and now I am thinking of a solid axle swap.

How much would bigger tires (say 35" w/ 4.56:1 gears) hurt the MPG?

96 4x4 , 4.3 - 4L60E pure stock....

21-22 hwy.... havent drove it enough in town to know city mileage but reckon on 17-18 mpg. (could be wrong on last figures)
