I'm on a very tight budget here, but want to have a locker both rear and front.
My Suburban is a 1990 V2500 with 6.2 Diesel. Vin#1GNGV26J6LFXXXXXX .
What is the most common locker to use?

Thanks!
Roy.

What is your intended usage?

Really depends on that more than anything. For the rear, a gov-lock is excellent, if you aren't a hardcore wheeler, for instance.

Edit: just noticed your location, gov-lock might be cost prohibitive to get, so even with light wheeling, in your case it might not be a good choice. Here you can find them used all the time.

Thanks folks!! Really appreciate it!
I'll be using the Burb for hard offroad, and some short trips on good roads.
This will not be a daily driver.:D
Where can I get these lockers at a reasonable price?
Tried a search at Summit, but they're quite pricy there...
Ebay maybe?
I don't even have the G80 RPO code on my ride, not even av LSD i.o.w., so wheelspin is quite irritating...

Thanks for tips on where to buy, and thanks for the above posts.

On a tight budget for offroad usage, I would weld the heck out of the rear. Then just match the tires to the axle...

say, less than 33" tires (~80cm) on a 10 bolt. BIGGER tires on a 14 bolt.

When I welded the front on my old 10 bolt with slight lift/tires, it was an AWESOME trail rider/dune rider. But I did have to be careful not to break stuff.

Yeah, I thought about welding the rear at least, but I'm unsure about the front axle.:wink1: I think a locker is best in front.:waytogo:
This might seem like a dumb question, but what kind of axles do I have?:o
I know it's a 14 bolt SF in the rear, and a 10 bolt up front, but there seem to be a heck of a lot of different internal part in these axles....:dunno:
Could anyone give me a part# at, for instance, http://www.4wheelparts.com/Drivetra...d-Differentials.aspx?t_c=12&t_s=237&t_pt=5589 ??
I am not sure which one to pick in regards to the VIN-code I wrote at top of this thread.... :1zhelp:

Thanks in advance!!!

Didn't look at the link, but if it's the factory axle in the front, you should have a 30 spline 10 bolt.

Those will be good unless you are running tires over around 35", then you will need heavier duty axles to be bulletproof. The front is even a bit squirrelly with 35s, I managed to bomb mine pretty good with 36" tires and a minispool. The nice thing about lockrites is that they are easy to install.

Thanks folks!! Really appreciate it:bow:

I'll be rolling on 33x12.5x16.5, so the stress on my axles will not be too bad I think.
I think I'll go ESAB/Hobart/Miller-locker in the rear and a lock-right or similar in front.
Anyone having one lying around gathering dust???:wink1:

Thanks:D
