What mods can i make to a tbi motor?

I'm trying to figure out which way to go with either a rebuilt modded motor or stock gm crate motor. i was thinking maybe a mild rv cam and .0030 or .0040 overbore.... just a little uumph more than stock. Will i need to have a custom chip burned for these minor mods? engine needs to be rebuilt or replaced soon so i'm trying to figure out which way to go.
