What Motivates you ?

completing the vision in my head... oh, to be rich...

it's hard in my dinosauric days, I'm soooo beat up physically... But I just say to myself, "hey, your getting killed all day, whats a few more hrs?"

I try to make it casual too.. go down work for an hr or so, come up have a beer, check in here, go back down, crank the tunes, etc...

I don't do nearly as much as I did when I was younger, but I'm also much more efficient with my work after a million years of projects, wrenching, etc...

I keep wrenching with the impossible idea that someday I wont have to do it again! Right now I'm undoing what previous owners and myself screwed up doing the first time around. I would love someday to only need to wrench when I break something on the trail, not every weekend just to make it driveable.

It's what I do. It's what I know. I do motorcycles for a living. Cars and trucks are just for me. The last few weeks I've been doing late evenings on my wifes '67 Camaro, often 'till gone midnight. Why? Because I know that if I do it, it'll get done right. It may take me longer, what with trying to fit it in with work, but I'll be comfortable with the end result.

I wrench Because I love it and have been sence I was 7 Im 18 now ands I still love to wrench. And I need a kool ride that I built not bought.

sometimes I like wrenching on mine more then wheeling it. then I go wheeling. :D Thats my motivation, pushing something I built to its limits.

I also enjoy the alone time. I love my wife and son and enjoy the company of my friends, but when I am wrenching on my truck its probably the only time I am actually alone. nobody tells me what direction to go with my build, its all for me.

I second this. Nobody bugs while i'm wrenching, no phone ringing, just peaceful with my dreams and tools.

I 3rd that because its my passion and i love just learning new things everytime i do a project but also because i get my alone time, my girlfriend just called tonight and wanted to chit chat but i told her no because guess what i was doing, i was wrenching. I love it " and her too of coures"

cause i dont have to hear the phone ringing when i have loud equipment running...with my work my phone rings 75 to 100 times a day...

The $95 per hour that shops charge, plus the ridiculous markup on parts is enough to get me to wrench on my own junk. Not to mention that many shops will do a half-a$$ed job anyway.

I have no motivation to wrench on my own truck because I'm currently wrenching on other people's junk for a paycheck. My trucks in good shape right now. The last thing I had to fix on it was the water pump last year. My motivation was easy on that one. I enjoy working on MY TRUCK. Oh yeah the $$$ is a problem too. I would love to do lots of upgrades & mods.

As topic say's what motivate's you to wrench?

Because I'm married now and can't dump $1200 on this and $900 on that, like I used to do as a single guy.

But I've also found that when I work on my own stuff, I get a better feeling of 'knowing' my own rig.

because friend built a nice ass rig and therest buddies parents paid for and think they are the cats ass... that bothers me... i will buil dmy own rig and fix it and build it so i can say hey i can do it all

I like doing it. I even enjoy hacking up my truck.

It's harder getting motivated to go the gym. Unless I have a lot of energy.

Ain't that the truth.....I gotta get back in a gym. I'm fat as hell.

What motivates me usually is seeing someone else's rig, or reading about a build on here. I just flat out enjoy wrenching, I wish I didn't have to work so I could do it all the time. That is until I hit the 15 minute spurts where I'd like to burn whatever I'm working on, just because it pissed me off. Haha

yes we do. many times I think how different it would be if I still had a small convertible. there is nothing like spending 2 months wrenching on something to not know if it will survive the 9 hours of wheeling you have planned.
