also, did you gain any power when the mufflers were installed? i have the cheap stock cucv mufflers that are about 2 feet long and suck

If you really want to mess with people, put a set of glass packs on your 6.2 Diesel. Our old family rig that we can't part with is a 82 burb with a 6.2 and my dad stuck a set of glass packs on it and when you mash on the gas it doesn't sound like its diesel. I've had a few confused friends "he I thought that was diesel.. what the?"

flowmaster

I'm running dual flowmaster 40series, 3" inlet/3" outlet. i love the sound of them. couldn't say that they made big power gains, but it's noticable.

Ditto on the flow 40s. They feel the same as no muffler except the tone is deeper. The flowmasters make it sound like a gasser when you mash it but then when its idleing you here the marble in the muffler sound of the diesel

Re: mufflers

I am running a set 70 series flowmasters with 3 inch pipe from the manifold ro the rear Deep, thrhoaty, but not over bearing. sounds like a big block.

yeah i was leaning toward flowmaster 40's, but thought they may be a little loud...... of course it is a diesel afterall. thanks for the input!

I would just strait pipe it. I'm going to just run strait 5" pipe all the way from the turbo to the tail pipe with my cummins dodge.

If you want to use a muffler I would suggest a diesel muffler, not a gas muffler. Diesels don't like as much back pressure as a gas engine. Flowmaste makes a diesel muffler that is called the Outlaw. It is completely hollow, but somehow brings down the volume slightly.

when i first bought my jimmy i decided to cut off one of the mufflers for laughs, Holy S***! I was setting off car alarms halfway across the parking lot at school, at high rev everybody though i was driving an alcohol blown drag car, then they seen ma big jimmy.

That's fine for a diesel with a turbo, but a straight pipe on a NA 6.2 is L-O-U_D!

Oh yeah.... :doah: no turbo..... my booboo... :o

Straight piped here.............not for the faint of heart. :D I do believe what rjf said is right, that diesels run better with no backpressure. :dunno:

Straight pipe all the way back off the turbo on my 6.2
