I own a clean stock 72 K5 but have been searching for a rust free 1975.
What are the main differences of there then the body style appearance?
I think they have a slightly larger wheel base but what else is there?
Pros, cons etc.

Thanks PG

All that I can think of is longer front springs which can affect ride, but not with the right springs. I know that it is easier to add A/C to the '73 and up ones. But I think that the first generation blazer was slightly less prone to rust. And the first gen didn't have problems with the hood bending from dry hood hinges.
I am not sure what else.

Defroster works better on a Gen II

OK what about quality of ride, power windows? larger i.e. more room in the interior longer wheel base etc?
Like I said I love my 72 I just want a 75 also maybe a 73 or 74 would do as I am not sure it there were upgrades from 73-75 either.
I for some reason like the square body style and want one that I can customize without guilt like I would create messing with my 72.

If anyone knows of one 99% rust free let me know I would love a white 99% rust free needing new paint engine and transmission so I could put a
modern vortec engine and 4 speed overdrive transmission in. No rush at all I am still improving my 72 and really enjoying driving it each day
now that its not 105 all day and 95 at 11pm.

Thanks PG

Lots of love for all full verts! I've had a 71, 74, and currently a 70. First gen engine bays were never designed for a BBC. Firewall issues. It can be done, just takes some effort.

I don't think power windows came out on these trucks until 78 or 79...

From what I've seen, people love both generations! Everybody has an opinion as to whether they prefer the 1st gen's or 2nd gen's looks more (people kinda forget there was a 3rd gen...), or if they like the 2nd gens, if they prefer the full-vert or the half cab design. But, at the end of the day the only opinions that matter are your own. I will say that nearly every time I take my 75 Jimmy out I get thumbs ups, compliments, and questions regarding if I'd want to sell it. I love my 2nd gen full convertible, but could I love a gen-1 equally? Probably! In terms of differences between the model years, everything is pretty well documented on CK5 already at http://coloradok5.com/specs.shtml

What about leg room for the front passengers? On my 72K5 I moved the seat back until it hit the step up is there the same space on the 2nd gens or is the step up missing or some more room since its a longer wheel base?
Just wondering. PG

I think it depends on year. I know my 75 has the rear step and has excellent leg room. However, that said, I remember a friend of mine years ago had an 80s version and I don't remember the step up from the front cab to the rear seat area.

78-79 don't remember what the cutoff is but the step is farther back, so think earlier is more like a truck bed with a seat and later is more like an sub because rear seats actually get a footwell,

the frame where the steering box is mounted is less prone to cracking on a first gen. second gens are well known for this problem.
