Lately i've gotten into this whole kick about having American made stuff. I thought for the longest time that Milwaukee was American made but it appears it's chinese made. I've done some research and to the best of my knowledge it looks like Makita (despite the name) and DeWalt are predominantly made here.

Does anybody have anymore info on this?

friend that worked at i.r. said only buy composit body air tools. aluminum stuff is now all china and replacement parts real bad luck.

Snap-on.....At least my air tools are U.S. made, my cordless electric stuff says "assembled in the U.S.A."

snap on has china factories now.. cornwell tools still makes all tools in the U.S. the last i heard.

Well thats sort of true. All the steel, wrenches, sockets, and puinches are. But not things like the hex driver bits. Supposedly they are made in the same place in china as Mac and Matco get theirs.

I did hear a funny rumor that Black and Decker are making the cordless stuff for Snap-on now. B&D is owned by Dewalt, who is owned by Stanley tools, who also owns Mac tools.

When I worked at Lowe's, the DeWalt reps who did our product training told us B&D owned DW. The Wiki for DW supports that, but I'm not keen on using Wiki as a source....
Stanley also owns Bostitch, Porter-Cable, Delta, and DeVilbiss, among others.

Ehh who owns who kind of don't matter in todays corporate world. If the rumor that B&D is making Snappys cordless stuff, it just amuses me that a diect competitor is the one doing it.

For Milwaukee it also depends on the tool. Most cordless tools and stuff are foreign made now. But things like the sawzall I believe are still US made.

And my IR TiMAX impact is US made, but my IR air hammer is china made. So I think with a lot of them it will depend on which tool you are referring too.

Yeah this is off B&D website http://www.blackanddecker.com/CustomerCenter/Company-Information.aspx

"1960 - Alonzo G. Decker, Jr., son of the co-founder and a Black & Decker employee since 1930, succeeded Robert D. Black as president. Mr. Black continued as chairman of the board and chief executive officer. Black & Decker acquired DeWalt, Inc. of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, a manufacturer of radial arm saws and other stationary woodworking equipment in the U.S. and Canada."
