I have two sets of rims for the blazer, both are a 16.5 which I have a new set of tires to mount on them. The first set are Mickey Thompson Classic look alikes Pictured first OR the second set that are on the blazer in the picture second. I plan to paint them flat black as im not a fan of chrome. What are your thoughts?

Second ones.

Everybody has the first ones now and hardly anyone has the second ones anymore. The flat black would look good and give them kind of an updated throwback look. Probably be pretty sharp looking.

If you don`t like chrome, I thnk you answered your question. I`d keep #2, and paint them, sell #1, for some extra $$.

big muddy pic set is american racing style outlaw II rims.

and old school rides should have old school rims in my eye's .

Dang! Everyone replied fast to this thread! Well I was really on the fence but I think I could sell the MT's faster than the others. So should I keep the stock look of the outlaw II's or paint them black to match the bumpers, sliders etc that I am building?

Yep, keep the Outlaw IIs. Not sure if I would paint them or not...maybe a dark gray instead of black?

Either way, I agree the M/T copies should be the ones to go.

The second ones are F-250 wheels, aren't they!? :haha:

LOL! Hey those look good black! Thats helps me out seeing what they look like painted! I went and checked the rims they are, as stated by Sweetk30, american racing outlaw II's.

Please don't paint your wheels black unless you want to look like every other redneck out there. Black wheels are so overdone and it makes the tire and rim look like an amorphous blob.

Painting rims black is less "Redneck", More "Douchebag". Not saying YOU would be but the look is D-baggy.In my opinion. But you know what they say about Opinions heheh! Seriously unless you plan to adorn "Tapout "decals and "Monster energy"&"Rockstar" stickers all over your ride,(and a nice set of chrome testicles) I would honestly stick with a nice polish on those Outlaw II's or go nuts, paint away, it is your truck man! have at it! have you considered craigslist for some basicfactory steel to paint? Seems a shame to ruin those Chrome beauties!

here is what my d-window rims in black turned out to look like.

brand new out of the box redone in white. and also with gm caps and conversion lug nuts look factory .

yes black rims are WAYYYYYYY over done these days and only kind of look good on newer rig's .

Just sell both sets of rims and buy a set of factory white steal rims and a matching set of hub caps.

Those things look great!

Painting wheels black to make them appear more truck-like and functional is just silly. There is NO benefit to painting them black (unless you just REALLY like black and insist on having wheels that match the tires) and it's not like you're paying extra for the polished finish. You're not buying new wheels after all.

It's funny, I never really cared much for the Outlaw II's when they were newer. But I ended up with a set of them, and after several years they have really grown on me. I don't think I'll ever replace them. They are easy to clean too.

Th white looks good, I might do that on my CC which already has those rim in white that need fresh paint!

The rims are going on a blazer that is 95% off-road rig. The hub cabs I don't think will fly. Eventually I will go with some h1's. decisions decisions.

Ill prob keep the outlaw II's and not sure about painting them yet. I like the black look with green, which is the color the blazer will be this summer, and the sliders, bumpers, rack etc are all flat black.

Agreed!
