So we`re trying to drop my motor in the frame, and the fockin motor mounts aren`t lining up. We tried loosening the frame mounts, but it didn`t help a bit. We were able to get one mount in, but then the other mount is off by an inch, it has to drop down and in towards the center of the frame.

Any ideas? I wondered if maybe the problem was that the motor mounts on the motor side were from the 82, which was 2wd, but according to LMC, they`re the same

When I installed new motor mounts, I had to rachet strap the engine down diagonally by the mount that wouldn't line up. They are fine now.

It's normal to have to use a leverage bar to get things lined up. They typicaly won't just fall into place.

There are differences in mounts between cars and trucks.

I`ve tried every thing I can, ended up just pulling it off the frame, leaving it on the hoist covered up, so that I can go to work

With the motor in the air, right about the mounts, it looks like it`s about 1/4-1/2in off on both sides...

IIRC the motor brackets are different 2wd to 4wd, i believe the 4wd brackets are taller which would make up the difference you are seeing. Use the Motor brackets that came off the original motor.
That motor`s long gone :doah: According to what I`m finding, they were the same, only different ones were for diesels.

The mounts should be the same, I swapped a 400 for a 2wd 454 and lined right up. In fact, I never had a problem with mounts not lining up. BUT, if the mounts are off a car, then they won't line up. Make sure you have truck mounts and not the car one....

Changing from a straight six to a 350, the mounts lined up no problem. Now I just need to reverse the process...:doah:

Arent the mounts on the block different left from right? Seems like I ran into that many moons ago.

for the record, the mounts I sent Ben are for an 87 K5 350... and where the same as what just came off my motor..

I don't know any particular year breakpoints for any of that stuff.. tho I'm assuming a quick peek at LMC would tell me...

According to LMC, they`re all the same.

gone hunting, I thought about that, but they look identical.

FWIW, the rig I got the motor out of was a 82 c3500, and the rig I`m putting it in, has a 90 K5 frame, with Paul`s 87 K5`s mounts.

I am having the same problem. Dropping a Carb'd 350 in a '85 K5 that had a 350 in it until today. Pulled the motor brackets off of engine that came out of truck and went to the store to get new rubber mounts, Anchor part # 2292. Same misalignment of bens, so what is the remedy? :dunno:
Thanks in advance, Kenny

hey ben I have my old motor mounts sitting in my garage if you want them ;)

After playing on the internet and crawling under my 73, i think I have my mount issue figured out. Thought I would post up in case anybody else has similar problems. The engine that I pulled out of the blazer already had 2wd brackets with fairly shot mounts. I assumed it was correct, but should have known better.:doah: So I can continue, I am going to run it as is until I can get DIY4X motor mounts and raise my transfer case back up to stock. Somebody hacked it like usual, and I would think that the unexpected angle would prematurely wear new mounts. Hope this babble helps:(
