I've decided I'm tired of asking for favor's.....

Opinion's on this welder? :dunno:

I was looking into one of those, too rich for my blood. a buddy of mine is actually gonna pick that one up as well.
i actually got lucky in stead of having to buy a new big welder, a buddy of mine is letting me borrow his miller 250.

its nice being able to cook something thicker than 1/8"

IIRC miller owns Hobart. miller side was supposed to be the pro vs the hobart was more towards home use...

like i said that might be total crap, i am pretty sure i read that tho.

If your budget is that high..... get a Lincoln Power mig 300

My dad has 3 at the shop. He says it is the absolute best he has used. it welds like butter. they have some different more expensive ones and my dad still uses his "cheaper" model

If you want shoot me a text and i can tell you how much im swinging off this welders nuts. Or i can give you my dads number and he can tell you how badass it is

I for one do not like the autoset and on the three welders I have used with it I just set it myself. I like millers a alot but have welded with that hobart ironman, its a good welder too

Get a Hobart 210 handler, great bang for the buck. I bought mine a while back and couldn't be happier.

I find I only use the autoset when I am tacking stuff in place and it's easy to pick different thicknesses, etc. However, when I am actually welding I usually manually change the settings to my liking.

I have the Millermatic 211 and I love it, small, powerful, uses 110 or 220 (I usually use 220 but occasionally need 110 and it's handy then). The 211 will weld just as thick as the 212, but the 212 has a higher duty cycle. I have never had my 211 shut down on me and I have welded for a couple hours straight before. I start and stop often enough it doesn't get too hot.

Again, all opinion's are much appreciated....

I'm learning to weld, but want something that will last.
Begin w/ the end in mind, kinda thing.

Another vote for the 210 handler if you arn't going to be using it all the time and making a living with it. You can get the spool gun combo to weld aluminum as a package deal and have a nice setup. Dont forget to factor in a cart. Best bang for the buck IMO

The iornman or 212 would be my "next step up" if I needed something to use all the time and I was on a budget.

I have a Miller 252 at work and that thing is one hell of a machine. I wouldn't have anything else if I made a living building rock crawlers. I'm no expert on welding, thats for sure but the 252 makes me look a lot better at it than my 210 Handler.
