wHAT Shade helmet.

i have the HF #47277, i couldn't be happier for the price. always works

steve, the solar powered helmets have batteries that are charged by solar power. it is charged by welding. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

I use a Hobart 9-13 adjustable auto darkening helmet. It is AWESOME. It set me back about $180 though. It is TOTALLY worth it though in my opinion. I have played with HF's auto darkening and it is ok but my Hobart is nicer. If you plan on welding alot get yourself a good helmet, it will be worth it.

Arc I usually use 10-11 shade
Mig I usually use 9 shade

I have a cheap helmet that i use for sandblasting /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

But for welding i have a Hornell SpeedGlas 9000X. The only bad thing about the auto darkening helmets that i have found is that sometimes if the sensor gets blocked while you are welding it will flash you a little bit. It still protects your eyes from the UV rays but looking at an arc through a shade 3 lens leaves you blind for a few minutes
