I am looking to get rollcages built for both my '85 and my '87. I don't want to break the bank but I want something strong. What should I expect to pay and what are the major considerations when shopping around?

35 dollars a bend plus the cost of materials.....

Or....

70 dollars a bend flat out...

This is also just kind of an average for run of the mill DOM (1 5/8 .120). The price well go straight up when you start looking at chromo and other thicknesses.

Or you could buy a pre-bent one. but they will still require welding and maybe some cutting.

Some guys will also charge you more is the interior is still in when you drop it off. If its a custom job, be sure to tell them that when you drop it off EVERYTHING well be out of the truck (with in reason...you can leave the dash in!) But carpet, padding, seats, headliner, kinckpanels, removing those takes time, and its time you will be paying.

I hope this helps.

The cheapest I have ever been quoted by a good shop was $800. That was before the price of steel when up.
