i have a 2wd 3/4 ton suburban im parting out, i took the motor and trany out, and im debating if i should keep the 14 bolt rear end. any other things you guys think i should keep before scraping it? i have a 85 gmc jimmy i jus got running.
thanks

Pull the 14 bolt and if its a FF then keep it for yourself if its a SF then sell it to fund something else for your rig or trade it for something for your rig. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

im a noob, whats ff and sf? how can i tell witch one it is?

[/ QUOTE ]FF = Full Floating. SF = Simi Floating. Th FF is stronger. The FF will have a center hub with 8 bolts.

i know this may sound stupid but were do i find the center hub? to see if it has 8 bolts

your rear wheel bolts to the hub then there would be another set of 8 bolts in the middle of those in a smaller circle.

The hub is the center thingy stickin out. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif That's a Full Floater. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

well i jus went out and looked, i took the hubcap off and it has 8 lugs but it dont have a hub like the one in that picture, it dont stick out at all, do i have to take off the wheel?

I'm no expert, but it sounds like you have a SF, but you could probably use the P/S box for crossover steering later. It's a good thing to hang on to, doesn't take up too much space.

I think the sub doors will fit your jimmy depending on the year of the suburban, keep them for future half doors if you think that may be in the plans. If your Jimmy doesn't have a tilt column and the sub does, that might be of use. Windsheild might be worth keeping for a spare if its in good shape....hmm. Tell you what, just send the suburban to Colorado and I'll take all those pesky extra parts off your hands!
