I was under the impression that I had a 25 gallon gas tank, but when I do a search on a gas tank it comes up with a 31 gallon. lmc shows 25 gallon up to 87 and then 87 to 91 31 gallons?:dunno:

Thank you,

Ed

if I recall correctly

if top of tank to seam line is same as seam line to bottom of tank its the smaller .

if the seam to bottom of tank is more than top of tank measurement its the 31 gal .

Also, if you have a skid plate, minimal gap between plate and tank is 31 gallon. Large gap (over an 1") is the smaller tank.

LMC is wrong if they show a 31 gallon only starting in '87. 31 gallon AFAIK is far more common regardless of year, and I know 31 gallon was used as far back as '83 since I had them.

The '87-91 tanks (at least TBI) all had internal baffles, prior did not, that is why they show a year split in '87.

it appears to be the same. I think it is a 25 gallon.

LMC shows 73 to 87 25 gallon and 73 to 91, 31 gallon. I was pretty sure I had a 25 gallon.

I was looking for a sending unit and my searches keeps coming up with a sending unit for a 31 gallon in my 88, I believe its a 25 gallon tank.

finally found a Doorman sending unit for 87-88 25 gallon tank.

thank you,

Ed

Never been on E? What's Hawaiian gas cost anyway?

funny you should say this .

took my plow truck stubby j.r. out the other day . got to the gas station and filled it up till it clicked .then went to next full dollar .

20 gal tank took 18.75 gal or so . :eek1: almost had to get out and push if I had gone any farther .

I've been so low that I actually ran out after I filled it.:haha: I was running off what was in the line. Filled it up and a mile down the road it died and I had to turn it over til it burped the air outta the line...:thumb:
