What size gauges can I replace my stock ones with?

I hear ya as my fuel, oil, and speedo dont work.. Speedo for over 1 1/2 year. The other day I pulled in to fill up and only had 2 gallons in tank....and didnt even know I was going to run out!!!!
Ill pay for those gauges rather than have to worry about running out of fuel on my way to work.!!!!!

yeah, fuel guage... there's another one I won't have. lol! I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna make a simple cuel cell and have a "sight guage" on it.

Fuel gauge is a damn important one for a diesel...a tach is just eye candy though.

Very true, how would I go about installing a Tach???
What will I need to purchase with the tach.....??
I do not have one in my truck now....

Gauges

I saw those gauges the other day when Rene posted the pictures in his own thread. They look really nice and there were lots of admiring comments from CK5r's. Equus was the brand according to Rene and then i found them, same gauges (Equus) listed in the J.C.Whitney catalogue. Even shows a picture of them and you can see the name on the dials clearly. Same gauges.
I have only used JC Whitney once so far and the manuals i ordered arrived in UK really fast and the staff on the phone were really helpful, and with the follow-up enquires i made via e.mail. So, correct me if i'm wrong, I think they are a good firm to deal with.

Someone may have better info than I do on diesel tach's and tach's in general. From my understanding though a tach is most accurate in the middle of it's range, so a 10,000 rpm tach on a 6.2 isn't a good idea (as they're governed to 3600 rpm)

It's not so easy to find a 5000-6000 rpm tach...especially one that is 5" and matches either the Equus or Autometer ultra light series. As far as I could find Autometer did have a tach suitable for a diesel, but it was a way different style.

The tach signal is pulled off of the alternator, or balancer and I think needs to be calibrated to some extent.

2 5/8" gauges...mounting them was a piece of cake. The second pic shows the 'cone' you need to remove.

The larger holes can be filled the same way with 5" gauges.

Hope you got some money set aside, the speedo is well over $200 and the tach is near the same. It adds up quickly!

Does the bezel come off from the gauges??
The gauges look flush!!

The gauges are mounted to the bezel. Not sure I understand what you're asking??

Rene

The outer ring of the gauge is not sticking out past the dash bezel.
Im cutting mine right now but want them to be flush.
Looks like you have them recessed??
