I have a 74 K5 and I want to run 38x13 TSL's. but it seem like i cant get a good # on what size lift to run. i've heard some ppl say they ran a 12" lift for 39's and i've heard other say they ran just a 8" lift for 38's. i dont want to get a lift and it not work....

I run, what I call, 8" with 38x15.50 Super Swamper Radials on 15x10s. The reason I say it like this is I have a combination of stuff making up my lift. Up front I have 4" springs with 1" zero rates, and 2" longer shackles (good for 1"), 6" total. In the rear, I have 4" springs with 4" blocks, for 8" total (solves the "butt sag"). Along with this, I have 1" body lift. I just round all this off to 8" for an easy description. I trimmed the front and rear corners of the front fenders prior to running the 38s. This set up rides and flexes way better than 8" springs, but the main reason I ended up with this setup is that I started with 4" and 35s, and just kept going bigger :D. BTW, the "flexing" pics are with the swaybar discos hooked up, and I know yours is a 74 and mine's an 83, but there shouldn't be a whole lot of difference.

Depends on how much you are wanting/willing to cut from your fenders! If it were me, I'd run at most a 6" lift for 38's (I have about 4" lift and 37's) but, I like a low lift & big tire look, vastly prefer a low center of gravity, and don't mind cutting my fenders to fit the tire size I'd like! If you have no desire to cut whatsoever, you are gonna be looking at a big lift.
