402bbc/TH400/2400 stall converter (non-lockup)... She's gonna get warm.
Its the C/10 in my sig.

Everyone keeps saying "get a big tranny cooler."
Well... What size is big? :dunno:

I know for sure that I want a B&M Super Cooler.
Point me towards a good size. :deal:

And, can I run a "T" in the cooler line, and run my temp sensor off the "T"...?

My B&M gauge came with a tee for inline. I don't know if it's the best way to do it or not. Never tried any other way myself.

I had one in the pan of my 700R4... Leaked like a bastard. :doah:
Gonna do the inline method.

It has to be close.... At least within a few degrees.

I just did it the way the instuctions with the gauge said. It said to put it in the return line to the trans. I've read it needs to be in that line, the out line to the cooler and the pan. I don't know.

40,000 GVW Tru-Cool trans cooler and don't look back. Bypass the radiator loop and go straight into that cooler and back into the tranny. I guarantee you you'll be happy. I have a stacked plate B&M cooler sitting on my shelf that I pulled off to try the Tru-Cool. It's amazing how much better it was than the B&M.

Do you run a gauge? If so where did you put it?

That's what I was looking for...

lots of info and link in there.

if your want best and forget about it try the b&m with the built in fan .

I my self run 2 senders . 1 in hot line to see how hard I am working it. and 1 in pan for average most of the time.

easy toggle switch to the sender wire at gauge solves the problem of 1 gauge 2 senders.

and my plow truck its only in the hot line from the tranny in the remote filter housing port.

Ive got the biggest b&M plate style on my trans guy could find.

Then I put an electric fan between the radiator and the stock fan all inside the shroud.

I just changed my fluid after a year and quite a few dune trips, and it looked like brand new fluid. Happy with it.

Absoutely. I run it in the port on the side of the trans. I don't really care what guys say it's a fine spot for it. I like how guys like sweetk30 do it too with two senders but for me it's more of an indicator if something is going bad.
I just know where mine runs 95% of the time so if I look down and it's not around there I know something is wrong.

Avery,
Thanks for the info. Glad you took my post as where your sender is and not the gauge. I read it and thought you were going to tell me it was in the dash! I have read so many differrent views on where to put the sender. Also whether or not to run stock cooler too. Or thermo bypass. I wheel in the snow in the winter so I ran my line to front cooler first then thru radiator cooler to keep oil warm in 10 deg temps. My temp sender is in the return line after the radiator. Even in the summer my gauge seldom shows more than 185. Works for me.

That works. I live in the desert and wheel either in the 75* dunes at the coast or up in the mountains where it's cold but not that cold. 30*+ even during the colder times we've been up there but if I lived where it was colder I'd keep the radiator loop as well to make sure it warms up enough.

Kinda funny how we set up our rigs so much different for certain parts of the country.
