what splines to count?

i feel like a noob but,im about to order a converter for my 700r and it says either a 27 spline or 30 spline, so i went out in my garage and saw there are 2 shafts with splines coming out, do i count the bigger shaft farther back or the smaller shaft sticking out farther?

Dont know which one you need to count but,one is the stator support and one is the input shaft.

Only one is a shaft.The stator support is fixed and does not turn.
