On the left is a stock 241 shaft. I purchased the one on the right from a member who bought it from JB Conversions a few years ago. The spline diameter is different, so is the smooth area. The gear that fits there, doesn't. Also, the oiling channels etc are different. Finally, while its for an SYE, it's threaded for a nut on the end. Not sure if the flanges are held on by nut or bolt.

PS, all is good with the member and I. Just a mix up. :D

2wd th400 and 4l80-e fixed yoke is bolt and washer.

but factory tcase all held by nut i have ever seen.

Can't help you with what it is but I can say that ALL GM t-cases use a 32 spline output and if it's a fixed yoke then the yoke is held on with a nut.

ok, well the JB kit says it includes an HD 241 shaft. Whatever that is. It's shortened and has threads for a nut, which sounds right, but there is no way this is fitting into my 241. :( Not really a problem, just wondering. Trying to help the member figure out WTF this thing is for lol

Dodge used a 241HD behind the second gen Cummins and???

I dunno if that helps, all i remember was a little wider chain.

Which spline is different?

The early NP241's used a bearing inside that gear, New Process eliminated that bearing in the later NP241's as it isn't necessary. The JB Conversions shaft is based on the later design.

That shaft could be the super short shaft used in the driver drop NP241 case which wont fit a passenger drop NP241.

hmmm, sent the wrong one or ordered wrong. Dunno

I'm gunna send them an email with this picture, see what they say

The "super short" version is just that, a shorter output that requires a shorter bearing retainer, yoke, and shaft. Same splines, fits the same gears, etc. The "tailhousing" is different between passenger and driver's drop cases and they didn't make a passenger drop "super short "tailhousing.

My understanding anyway, JB Conversions would know for sure but they're tough to get a hold of.

Well, as far as I know, the only options from JB Conversions for a shaft like that would be one for a 231 or one for a 241. They would be similar, the planet side splines would be the same size ~1-3/4" major, but I believe the 231 output is smaller (though who knows, maybe they upgrade that).

Check the sizing once the bearing is out of that gear, I remember that being a common "issue" when we used to carry their SYE's.
