I recently bought an 83 blazer. Originally had a 305, now has a 350. Originally had a 700r4, now has a hydromatic 350 that needs replaced. BUT when i pulled the tranny/tcase today, i noticed it was a solid rear yoke. The front shaft has the double ujoint mount. Last i knew 208s have a slip yolk. My buddy with a 79 fulltime 203 said mine had the 4 selectors and not 5. So what could it be?

I will have pics around noon tomarow when i get out for lunch from school.

Well, if it's been replaced, could be anything. If it came with the TH350 it's likely an NP203... but others are possible.

Pix will be the dead giveaway. Post up and we'll talk :)

If it is behind a TH350, it could be an NP203 or 205.

Like the others said, post pics or the shift/selection pattern and we can help.

Sounds like a fixed yoke 205. Does it have a ratchet style shifter or two shift rails coming out of the front and bar connecting them. If its got the shift rails its a NP205.

Got the case and tranny seperated today. Heres the pics i got of it. The shifter has 4 selections from front to back.

NP203 alright. The 205 has the third smaller round plate between the two big ones ... and that goofy shifter thing has '203' written all over it.

OBTW, find the data plate and scrape the goo off, you'll know for sure. Forgot about that :doah:

And a '203 has five shift positions, including neutral in the middle. Really :)

yeah, what i was thinking, I couldn't see to little round cover, but those are really dark

well, halfway to a doubler............

Well hell. Ive brake cleaned all over it and only found the part #'s for the case. No data plate to be found.

How do i find out if its got the part time kit in it or not?

Put the shifter in what would be the "H" position on the indicator plate and spin the rear output shaft. If you have a part time kit the front should not spin.
