So recently put in new shocks and yesterday i was with my buddies and they started to tell me that we should go hit the trial but i wasnt in the mood so we went the closest thing, a lil climb near my house, i started going up slowly to keep some traction, 2 bads, the damn tires got the bumpers, think i got to trim it down, but that does not worry me.....

Then we heard a huge BANG from the rear, i inmediatly thought a shock bracket came loose, so got it in park got off took a look and nothing it was all ok, brackets, leaf springs, cv joint (rear).. so then i went like **** the diff case.....when going down i notticed it got bumpy on the rear and you could hear light knocks, then my friend told me look at the wheel, the rear right hand side wheel look like it was stuck didnt move much so kept on going in reverse, then forward and suddenly no noise or bumps, took a ride a round the block and it felt ok!

Asked a buddy of mine that knows somewhat about cars if it was possible that the ring and pinion could jump a teeth and he said NOOOOOO...maybe the spider gears did..

What do you guys think.

Probably broke some teeth on the ring or pinion gear. Time to drop the cover and take a peek.

Guees so, its original owner was some what weird, he usually mods his vehicules.

By driving it, can you tell if teeth broke?? any reaction...

I have some time thinking on a truetrac, but have to stash come cash for that to happen.

If it has broken teeth and you keep driving it you can do more damage than is already done.

If its got broken pinion teeth you'll be able to feel a big skip and slam where it speeds through the broken teeth because theres no resistence. You should definatly here a noise if its got broken teeth though.

well i walked besides it putting special attencion for any unwanted sounds while my friend drove it, and didnt hear any noise, non the less ill take a look inside, have you guys gotten theese type of parts used? any hints for me, or should i defininty go brand new.

Also now that we are in this, i have 3.73 gears, 383 small block 9.5 - 1 compresison, mild torque cam, the workd on the engine, th350 tranny should i stay with 3.73 or jump to 4.11, its a daily drive, well i dont use it that much...33' as well dont want to get under millage
