Going through heating / fan system... it's a total wreck. Came across this spring loaded / thermal-switch-looking-thing and can't seem to locate it in any of my manuals or on LMC. Can somebody tell me what it is, what's is called and what it does? It plugs into the engine side of the heater core as far as I can tell... pics attached.

That's the speed control for the fan.
It's resistance not heat control
