I've got a 1988 oldsmobile cutlass supreme classic, 307 4bbl.. I am 1200 miles away from home, and need to adjust my timing, I've got a light but can't figure how to get the distributer loose to adjust it. Yes, I am a retard. :D Please help, thanks

Won't a regular distributor wrench loosen the clamp bolt?

Yep a 9/16 ditributor wrench should work. If the distributor is frozen you can grab the base with some big azz channelocks and break it loose.

strap wrench..

I used an oil filter strap wrench to loosen a stuck distributor once..most GM HEI distributors have a square block cast into the housing above where it goes into the block..you can grab it with an adjustible wrench there..

i had a 307 out of an 87 Olds wagon, tried to pull the dizzy when i blew the motor, so i could put it in another engine. a pipe wrench and a cheater bar couldnt budge that thing, so i junked it all.

Thanks Guys, The Channel locks worked.. I was scairt I was going to F someting up, but it came out okay..
