All part of smog, AIR, and vacuum crap on Quads.

Oh yeah, you can ditch them providing you cap off or vent lines accordingly.

first is charchole can for gas tank vent fumes. big hose coming off frame by steering box and bolting to clamp on core support is the front axle vent hose.

second is vacume storage ball for a/c vent controls and also some cruise controls used it.

3rd is yes a q-jet. good carbs if clean and working good. best off road carb also . if me and had to stay with carb i would get someone who knows what thay are doing and redo that carb and run it. if swaping out its called a spread bore carb. 2 small ports in front and 2 BIG ports in back.

aftermarket carbs like edelbrock / std holleys and such are called square bore 4 = sized holes in square pattern.

if not swapping intake and only carb will need an adaptor plate to go square carb to spread intake.

I have always wondered the same damn thing. I knew they were related to vacume stuff but wondered of they could be bypassed or something.

Like they said. The square one is the charcoal canister to capture gas fumes from the tank vent.
Its smog related. If you are ever likely to have to pass smog, don't take it off.

The round one is usually important. Its nothing but a hollow ball, but if you have vacuum controlled anything, its needed to supply vacuum when the engine is not making much.

Had a '71 T-bird. Vacuum everything.
It had two coffee can sized vacuum reservoirs.
One of them developed a leak.
In the middle of summer, 90 degrees in the shade, the climate control system would go from full cool to full heat when you stepped on the gas........
