open your glove compartment all the way by bending it a little to get it past the dash, is there a place in there for it? yes its a trucks computer

any idea on what it controls? hooks to ect? thanks cody
That's ESC/EST computer. On your '83 it likely only controls spark retard IF knock is detected. If you have vacuum advance on the distributor, that's all it does. If you DON'T have vacuum advance, it controls ALL your timing, but that's it. It is not an ECM that controls a carb.
