What the hell is the world coming to, when Snap On isn't made in the USA anymore!?!?

IT as in computers,Network type stuff?

Tools of the Trade don't have to be "tools" what I meant was things you need to get your job done.

Computers, printers, servers, ect do you use the cheapest bargain basement stuff that you can get a wal-mart???

Like I said , Its not over priced. You may not need tools of that caliber. But that doesn't mean thats true for everyone.

I work for a Fortune 500 company so yes/no. We don't use WalMart equipment but it's no where near the best. Often from the lowest bidder. Just enough to get the job done. Maybe that's why I think Snap-On is overpriced when I can get the job done at a lower cost.

Lowest bidder, Still has to meet specs that you provide in the bid.

Cheap tools Don't don't meet the same specs as Snap-On,Mac,Proto,Ect.

The things you use in your job are beyond my needs for CK5 and other Truck Porn stuff, But it doesn't make it overpriced.

I am a mechanic, and I have thousands and thousands of dollars worth of Snap On tools. They are overpriced. I want them though, so I continue to buy them.

your also paying for the service... running a payment account, delivered to your job weekly, etc.... Craftsman's not doing that for ya...

I completely agree with you on that. Matco, MAC, and Cornwell do that though. Their prices are lower. I also think they are overpriced. Like you said though, they are offering a service, and someone has to pay for that truck, and the fuel. Snap On knows they have the name, and the reputation, so they price accordingly.

That and the Quality and Durability is so much better. :waytogo:

There not that much cheaper, and there quality isn't as quite as good as Snap-On

Your saying Snap-On just demands a higher price because of the "Name"

They have that "Name" because there stuff is far superior to others

I wouldn't agree with this as a blanket statement. It depends on the exact product, some things snap-on has are better, somethings Matco, somethings xxxx and so on. Everything snap on has is not the best. That would be like saying all chevy's are better. Wait, that's a bad example

Yeah I guess it is to "general" of a statement, But so is saying that all snap-on stuff is more expensive.

Very much agreed. I always have said I would rather pay a higher price for the right tool (whoever it may be from) Than a cheaper price for a tool that kind of works, but gets the job done.

I think it was a generalization, not a blanket statement. That being said, your opinion is your own, and his is his own. People believe in what they do because of experiences they have with a product, or person, etc.

Thanks. I'll go with what yellow said. We all know your opinion.

Edit- So how long have you been a dealer?

I'm not sure why you continue repeating that same query. Does it bring any prudence to the conversation? Or are you just going to continue your slight-handed jabs?

Yes it does bring prudence to the conversation. You have talked about other tool companies quality and what you have seen in the field. Experience makes a big difference in this field. If you have a 3 or 5 year history being a dealer and prior experience with other companies (buying or selling) your remarks would hold much more merit. Guys making other post in this thread have a ton of experience in the field and that is where their opinion and knowledge come from. The more experience, the more information their is to base an educated opinion from.
How is asking how long you have been a dealer a "slight-handed jab"?

You want an educated opinion. I was a Ford certified brake, suspension and electrical master for 3.5 years and have been a dealer for just over 6. I notice nobody questioned you about your experience when you offered opinions. My apologies for the slight-handed comment.

I have been buying tools from Snap On, Matco, MAC, and Cornwell for over ten years. Does my opinion still not count?

I just read today that Snap On will be returning the "USA" stamp to their ratchets. I'm guessing that there was a lot of outcry and people thinking that they weren't made in the USA, that they decided to return the USA stamp to the tool.
