today I found a 1980 gmc 3/4 ton burb with 14bff rear and 10 bolt front with manual locking hubs

it doesn't have a RPO sticker so tomorrow I will open differential covers to see what gears it has

did GM offer 10 bolts on 1980 year or this was replaced ?
and what other things should I check also ?

the guy wants 1000 saudi riyals ( about $266 ) and that was the best price I got

there should be a ratio tag bolted to the cover. That price isn't bad if the gears are good.

try and get him down to 940 riyals.:D

just stay away from 84/85 14FF's, they have the small pinion support bearings. also if there is a extra over-load helper spring its probably seen heavy use and has been stressed. I have seen a truck with two full spring packs hacked in place :eek1: :eek1: in the junk yard. ofcourse try and find an open carrier, not a gov-lock.

it doesn't have any tags from outside

and regarding the price
I will try to get him down to 900 or I will take the driveshaft + E-brake cable + the axles for 1000 - 1100 SR :D

thanks
