I have an 88' K5 on 1 tons with 9" total lift. 305/700R4/241. I came into some cash from work so i want to get more stuff for it. What i am having hard time with is what to buy next. I have 2k to spend and i NEED to keep the truck on the road. My plan for it is to be able to drive around town daily, then go wheeling all around the country from time to time. I know I'm gonna need ALOT more cash but want a good bang for the buck on this purchase as the money and my boss (AKA the wife) have aligned perfectly for this much money to be in my hands at once. The things i want to do to it are ( in no particular order);

5.3 & 4L60 swap

241 SYE kit ( would require new driveshafts)

locker for the D60 ( need ideas for which locker would be best)

Roll cage

Rhino liner interior ( or similar type)

aftermarket gauges ( preferably in a DIY4X dash)

soft top

rear bumper/ tire carrier

side steps

These are the big items i can think of at this time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I wanted to vote M60 but that wasn't an option

What do you use it for? Use begets need

Safety should be first so I would go with the cage
Then good set of rocker guards
Engine swap is going to be more re than two grand anyway and probably take awhile
Hard to beat an ARB locker in the front

For pure wheelability I went front locker. You can do a lot more obstacles locked than you can open. That'll be best bang for buck while wheeling

usage: daily driver to and from work ( 15-20 miles) recreation in between. Wheeling trips as soon as i think she is ready. I want to use it for as much as possible.

Safety first. Roll cage.
Plus it looks badass at the gas station.
