It doesn't matter if it sat on it's side or top. Oil will still get in the cylinders and thus hydrolock the motor.
Like I said I just judge by amount of time in the non upright position. It's a feel thing and you only get the feel after you have rolled a few, recovered more and worked on even more after the roll.
The best way to go about it is to just pull the plugs and turn it over. install plugs and check all fluids.
