Hey everyone. Just scored a soft top for my 75 and I'm planning on putting it on this weekend. I have all the needed tools and heated garage space so I'm set there. My ? Is what to do with the hard top? I don't really have a space to store it with the exception of my brothers house in the west burbs. I don't really see myself putting it back on. I tried selling it but that obviously went nowhere. I've seen guys just say screw it and save the good glass and cut it up. What would be ideal for this scenario. Also anyone in the Chicagoland area it's free if you want the top. Il even help you load it. Thanks everyone take care.

If it was a 73'/74' top I would say cut it up and be done with it, but its a 75' top. Those are a better top then the earlier two years. The 75' was redesigned so it would not crack in the corners like the easlier years did. They are hard to sell for some reason, but I would keep it if I were you. Cold winters there so ya might need it sometime. Who knows. Soft top won't last forever. I searched for years for a 75' top and finally found one from another member. I just hate to see a good top get destroyed. Lean it up against the garage or something like that.

Thanks I did not know that about the 75 top. I know that the soft top won't last forever but I have read that you save about 300lbs give or take by taking it out plus another 30 ish with taking the back window out. I have no issue with riding around in the winter with the soft top. I've owned wranglers and the heat in my k5 works excellent. I guess il talk to my brother about storing it. Any suggestions in case I can't find a garage/storage area?

Man, if you were closer, the top was black and had sliding windows, I'd come take it off your hands!

Or if you want to drive it down to VA for me I'd take it! :D

Unfortunately it has solid windows but if it were the summer time a nice road trip wouldn't sound too bad lol

If I had the garage space I would in a heartbeat the flipping it sounds awesome to utilize additional light storage. For right now the place I work is cool with me storing it in the garage so it's leaned up and covered. I work for an ambulance company so plenty of garage space which also helped in the install.

I have a thread somewhere with a '74 top, a Porter Cable sawzall, Bud Light and of course, me.

You can draw your own ideas from here. Oh yeah, there are pics on the thread, too.

That was my first thought but my first reply from r2dnblazer said that 75 tips were better so if I could save it save it.
