So I found a 73-75 K5 with no drivetrain/interior for $600 actually pretty solid but, not rust free. So....do I buy this, dump money into it or buy a running driving 87-91 for 1800-3000 that I just have to tire/wheel/lift/axle and be in the dirt?

What do you guys think?

How is a rusty '74 Blazer with no drivetrain and no interior worth anything near $600?

The '87-91 vintage is really good for Blazers, that's the way I would go :thumb:

Yeah I was figuring I would have at best $12-1500 to get it moving. I am leaning towards the RUNNING 87-91 and work at making it what I want instead of starting from scratch. Besides...I get impatient on projects.

any pics of this junk? i bought a 85 k5 blazer solid, just surface rust with drain train the back for 800 and everyone including me thinks i got a great deal on it. expecially out here its hard to find a older truck without it rotted in half. if it has floors im happy

Wait to find something running. Lots of time could be going into something that you can wheel and build how you want it.

It really depends on what you want. I would go w/ the 600 doller hull. I bought my 75 for 750, & no stock d-train parts are still in it. I didn't get anything for the crap parts I sold from it so IMO that doesn;t count.

You say you are not a projest guy though, so you might be better off to get a newer one that runs. Either way if you heavily mod it you'll have more money in it than you care to tell about.

something my dad always said and i kinda stick to it.
"Anything that runs and drives should be worth $500 and up, if it dont run or drive you better get a damn good deal on it."

I agree, If you cant get a better deal on that older blazer i would just wait. there is always a good deal out there, just keep looking and be patient.:D
